Cambodia wants more M'sian investors
in rice sector: Hun Sen

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen
said Cambodia wants to attract more Malaysian investors to come and invest in
its agricultural sector, particularly in the exporting of rice.
He made his comments during a meeting at the Peace Palace with Tun Mohd Khalil Bin Yaakob, governor of the Malaysian state of Melaka, on Tuesday.
Cambodia’s economic growth is expected to reach 7.6 percent and the country is currently boosting its infrastructure to enhance further economic growth, Hun Sen was quoted as saying.
The agriculture sector has played a key role in the country's growth, he added.
Hun sen asked Khalil to encourage Malaysians to invest in Cambodia's rice mills in order to process rice for export.
During the meeting, The Melakan governor said that he will urge Malaysian instant noodle companies to study the rice produced in Cambodia so it can be used in the production of instant noodles.
Tun Mohd Khalil Bin Yaakob added that he will help encourage more investors from Malaysia and his visit to Cambodia was also to explore the organization and management of the Angkor Wat World Heritage site to further develop the tourism sector between the two countries.
Malaysia is the third largest investor in the country with investments beginning in 1994 to the end of 2012 reaching US $2.62 billion, according to a report by the Council for Cambodian Development.
