Cambodian textile exhibition attracts 240 companies from 16 countries

The Cambodia Herald - August 31, 2013

PHNOM PENH: Some 240 companies from 16 countries took part in the Cambodia International Textile & Garment Industrial Exhibition in Phnom Penh earlier this month, an industry source said.

India-based San Blue Enterprises said Friday that the August 8-11 exhibition, organized by Yorkers Trade & Marketing Service in Hong Kong, was 15 percent bigger in scale than last year.

Exhibitors spanned multiple sectors from textiles and garments, agriculture, fabrics and accessories, plastics and rubber, printing and packaging and food processing to metalworking and automation, tools and hardware as well as auto parts and accessories.

"There were totally 9,320 trade visitors during the four-day event," a statement said. "Most of them were impressed by the professional atmosphere and the variety of industrial machines displaying from world renowned companies.

"It was also a good chance for them to upgrade old equipments, seek co-operations, and discover investment opportunities," San Blue said.

SLIGHT DECREASE DUE TO POST-ELECTION PROTESTS AND RUMORS

"The number of visitors slightly decreased due to some post-election demonstrations and rumors," the report said.

But "most of the exhibitors were still satisfied and confident with the outcome and feedback from the exhibition, nearly 80 percent of them confirmed to participate again next year," it added.
